Who We Are
WE ARE EXPERIENCED EDUCATORS WHO ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT HELPING STUDENTS AND PARENTS UNDERSTAND THE OFTEN CONFUSING PROCESS OF COLLEGE ADMISSIONS.
Pat Davis is excited about anything involved in the college admissions process. She is an experienced leader in helping parents and students navigate this ever-changing, competitive process.
Pat recently served as the Director of College Counseling at St. Mary's High School in Colorado Springs. She is a retired Air Force nurse, and spent 24 years mentoring and guiding young nurses toward rewarding career paths. Pat has a Master's Degree in Human Resource Development, and is an associate member of the Independent Educational Consultant Association, The National Association of College Admissions Counselors, College Consultants of Colorado, and the Rocky Mountain Association of Admissions Counselors. Married to a retired Air Force pilot, she and her husband have two children in the medical field. Pat loves college sports, especially Air Force and Notre Dame football, and enjoys golf (although a novice!), swimming and gardening. Whenever she travels, she's always figuring out how to visit local colleges to check them out!
Annamarie Brachfeld brings over 15 years of educational experience to Monumental Beginnings. She has taught middle and high school English, writing, journalism, and social studies. A teacher fellow with The National Writing Project, Annamarie also holds a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University in Virginia. She is a member of the Independent Educational Consultant Association, College Consultants of Colorado, and is a teaching fellow with the National Writing Project. Individualized instruction and coaching in ACT/SAT test prep and writing is Annamarie's specialty. She is experienced in working and communicating with students of all populations, motivations, and abilities. Annamarie is married to a retired Navy officer, and has two hilarious children. The only time she and Pat disagree is when Navy is playing Air Force! Annamarie is also ridiculously addicted to tennis and has been known to invite people over when she is experimenting in the kitchen.
"SO WHAT LED YOU TO COLLEGE CONSULTING?"
Both Annamarie and Pat have always enjoyed working with others. After working together for several years, they both found themselves looking for a new challenge, so they decided to put their unique talents and experience together. As the college admissions process gets more and more competitive, the expectations on teens and their families continue to rise. Conversely, high schools around the state are expected to do more with less, and families are left with fewer and fewer resources related to college admissions. Having helped hundreds of teens in the classroom and the counseling office, Annamarie and Pat set their sights on the one-on-one attention they love being able to give students in a way that allows parents and students more choice and autonomy than they may have working with their school counselors.
